The End of A Decade.

Today marks the beginning of the last month of my twenties. It conveniently coincides with NaBloPoMo, so my many ones of readers will be seeing a recap of the last 29 years - gives me something to talk about every day in November.

I'm not sure how I feel about this yet...the next month could be really interesting, or as exciting as examining your own belly button.

BAAAACK...

And slowly re-adjusting to the real world.

Hawaii pictures to come after I finish my annotated bibliography.

I'm so exciting it's ridiculous.

BLARGH.

So much to do, so little time.

Nothing is finished - two papers still need to be edited and formatted. I have 50 pages worth of Archives readings to go through.

Nothing is packed. Not much is even washed.

Nothing is planned once we get there. All I know is that we have tickets, a jeep, and a hotel. My email tells me so.

This is the most haphazard vacation I've ever taken and I might feel sick about that.

But there is no time.

And in 48 hours all I will have is time. On the beach.

All Work and No Play...

gets me more time to sit on the beach and read the Star.

It's papers galore here this week...fortunately, everyone is in Asia and can't use their cell phones (not to mention they're 16 hours ahead of us)so it's blissfully quiet in the office. I will be taking full advantage of this. Because really - who wants to spend a week in Hawaii staring at a laptop screen when the beach is across the street?

Across. The. Street.

Am I excited? Not yet. Too much to do to be excited.

Six days and counting...

One of my photos was included in the latest edition of Schmap's guide to New Orleans.

It's in the D-Day Museum section.

As the Tumbleweeds Blow...

So, was it ill-advised that I signed up for NaBloPoMo seeing as I haven't posted in a week?

I need to force myself to write for entertainment, because all of this scholarly writing is really starting to get me down.

Not that I have anything entertaining to say, really, unless you want to hear about my loathing of the wiki or the fact that this week I will create my first podcast.

OR...

that in two weeks I'll be sitting on a beach on Oahu without my telephone and computer. Because I can't fathom the idea of that - it's blowing my mind. I haven't been completely out of contact with my office in almost three years.

And they will live. Or I might not.
